Discover Tacos Tequila Bar & Grill

Walking into Tacos Tequila Bar & Grill at 135 Main St, Dillon, CO 80435, United States feels like stepping into a lively neighborhood spot where locals actually hang out. I first stopped by after a long day in Summit County, craving something warm, filling, and a little celebratory. The place buzzed with energy, yet it didn’t feel rushed, which is a hard balance to strike in a mountain town. From the start, it was clear this wasn’t just another stop for tacos-it was a full-on dining experience shaped by care, consistency, and a strong connection to the community.

The menu is broad without being overwhelming, and that’s intentional. I chatted with a server who explained how the kitchen keeps prep streamlined so ingredients stay fresh and flavors stay bold. You’ll find classic street-style tacos alongside hearty plates that lean more toward comfort food. I ordered carne asada tacos and a side of rice and beans, and what stood out wasn’t just seasoning, but texture-meat grilled properly, tortillas warmed instead of dried out, and salsas layered rather than just spicy for the sake of it. That kind of execution doesn’t happen by accident; it comes from repetition and training.

One thing I appreciate, both as a diner and as someone who’s spent time reviewing restaurants professionally, is transparency. The staff openly shared that many recipes are refined through customer feedback. That lines up with what the National Restaurant Association has reported in recent industry studies: restaurants that actively respond to guest input see higher repeat visits and stronger local reviews. You can feel that loop in action here. Online reviews frequently mention consistency, which is often the toughest thing to maintain in casual dining.

Tequila gets real respect here too. The bar program isn’t flashy, but it’s thoughtful. A bartender walked me through the difference between blanco and reposado options and suggested a pairing that complemented my meal rather than overpowering it. According to data published by the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States, tequila-based drinks continue to grow in popularity because guests are becoming more educated about quality and production methods. That education shows up behind this bar, and it makes the experience more engaging instead of intimidating.

Cleanliness and food safety matter more than ever, and it’s worth noting that the CDC consistently emphasizes proper kitchen hygiene as a key factor in customer trust. From open prep areas to spotless tables, this spot clearly takes those standards seriously. That doesn’t mean perfection-busy nights can slow service slightly-but it does mean you’re eating somewhere that values your well-being.

What really anchors the experience is how approachable everything feels. Families, ski-season workers, and travelers all share the space comfortably. Reviews often mention how welcoming the staff is, and that matched my experience. No scripted smiles, just genuine check-ins and recommendations that made sense.

I’ve eaten at plenty of Mexican-inspired grills across different locations, and what separates this one is balance. It’s casual without cutting corners, festive without being chaotic, and familiar while still feeling personal. If you’re the kind of diner who values solid food, honest drinks, and a place that listens to its guests, this restaurant earns its reputation the old-fashioned way-by doing the basics really well and repeating them every day.

  • Good food, great service, and a convenient location for those staying at the hotels nearby. I ordered tacos with steak and I tried some churros for dessert. It was a nice experience overall.

  • We were staying at Keystone skiing this week but desperately needed a trip out of the resort for dinner. We love a great, authentic Mexican restaurant for dinner and decided to try Tacos Tequila Bar & Grill. It did not disappoint! It is certainly an unassuming location and very much a casual atmosphere…but the food is fantastic. I had a breakfast burrito with solid chorizo. Others in our party had fajitas, enchiladas and quesadillas - all spot on. The prices are completely reasonable (especially when dropping ski resort money) and the bar is well-equipped for a great meal! I would also add that the house salsa is very good as well as the queso. Overall we had a great experience and think you will too!

  • Recently stopped here to eat because it was raining and storming out. The place is nice, food was delicious and pastries they sold were good as well. I did call ahead and asked if it was dog friendly, the man on the phone said yes. However, when I got there one of the waiter told me no, but told them I did call and checked and was told it was. They did let me eat here, but I didn't think the man behind the bar was as friendly. Overall nice spot for tacos and margaritas.

  • Ordered a to-go order of carnitas. While waiting asked if bartender/host/waiter...yes, he was juggling it all, if he could make a margarita like in Mexico. No sugary, nasty mix. It was perfect!! So if you don't like the sweet concoctions, ask for a "skinny". I have had many "skinnys". Not all "skinnys" are alike but this one was spot on. Took me back to my Cabo days. The carnitas were perfectly crispy and flavourful. Not greasy. Well, it is pork, so if you expect totally greaseless, you need to order dry toast. Only thing that would make the food better would be if they had whole pinto beans as an option instead of just refried. But that won't deter me, I'll be back!

  • Abel was truly a gem. The food was absolutely amazing. The tacos were so fresh and flavorful. My friends and I are from Miami and this restaurant was by far some of the best Mexican food we’ve had. Thank you Abel and staff! :) HIGHLY highly recommend if you are craving some cultural food!

  • We loved this hole in the wall spot in Dillon! The atmosphere reminded me of authentic Mexican restaurants I grew up going to with my family. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious, and the service was fast. I loved the veggie burrito and my cousin can’t stop raving about the chicken tacos.
